Agree, Leonard Rossiter was a genius,helped by a great ensemble cast. I'd have added the Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, which very much stands the test of time.
I used to enjoy Will Hay comedies, my dad liked him and got me watching his films. He's not even on Talking Pictures now let alone BBC. You are right about old sitcoms, few are as funny as I remember them. Others such as Nighty Night seem much better with recent views.

Agreed. Will Hay was terrific. But what, tell me, was the deal with Mr Pastry?
He refused to do any more TV as he was appalled by their moral decline.
If you want over-rated try Arthur Lucan as Old Mother Riley.
I will have to look into Richard Herne and his films. He was on Ed Sullivan in the 50s so must have been quite a big deal.
