Andy was a personal friend, so I have not really said much about his cancer, as I gathered he did not want to think of himself or have others think of him as that ‘cancer guy.’
For that reason, I have not shared the hours of interviews we did, both at Radio Leeds round about 2015 when his phenomenally entertaining memoir No Off Switch came out in paperback, and latterly, first when I pitched a show to Talk Radio for us to co-present, and then when we piloted a podcast called Why Am I Not On Television Advertising Commemorative Gold Coins or WAINOTACGC as we proposed acronymising it.
I have literally hours of this stuff, and I will share some of it with all of you on here, starting with this extract from my show on BBC Leeds…
Liz and I will also talk about Andy in a tribute we will record soon.
